Confirmation

Welcome

Confirmation is an important time in a youth’s life. During this time their family and congregation, who at their baptism took up the responsibility of nurturing them in faith, partner together to prepare them to affirm that Baptism.

We welcome you to this ministry and we pray that this time is positive and life-shaping for your whole family.

Confirmation Overview

Confirmation service is held the fall of the youth’s 10th grade year.

Confirmation is structured chronologically according to a four year ministry time frame. Years are identified as follows:

Year One

Starts in the winter with 6th grade confirmation orientation meetings for students and parents. After orientation students do some Worship Reflection forms and service hours while having the opportunity to participate in fundraising events. In the summer students will attend confirmation camp at Good Earth Village OR attend make up sessions.

Year Two

In the fall of the 7th grade year students start the weekly Wednesday confirmation classes from September to mid-May. Students continue with Worship Reflections, service hours and fundraising events. In the summer 7th grade students attend confirmation camp at Good Earth Village again OR attend make up sessions.

Year Three

In the fall of the 8th grade year weekly Wednesday classes start again and continue through mid-May. In the spring 8th grade students will attend meetings to prepare for the 9th grade mentor ministry year. In the summer they will attend a 9th grade retreat with the HS Youth Director.

Year Four

Starts in the fall of the 9th grade year and continues through the early fall of the following 10th grade year. During this year 9th grade students will work closely with their Mentor and their parents to explore their faith more deeply through mentorship, service, and working on their faith project and faith paper. In the fall of 10th grade students will be confirmed in the Affirmation of Baptism service on Reformation Sunday.
