Merle

Merle Savage has been the Director of the Bethel Brass for several years and took on Conducting responsibilities for the Orchestra last year. He has recently been brought on staff in these capacities.  A member since 1988, Merle has been active in most facets of the music program at Bethel and currently sings in Chancel Choir, plays trumpet and directs Bethel Brass, and conducts the Orchestra. A long time music educator in the Rochester Public Schools, Merle currently teaches music in Kasson-Mantorville.

Merle is married to Shelly, Bethel’s Nursery Coordinator, has four children, and two grandsons. He is the Director of the Rochester Music Men Barbershop Chorus and sings Tenor in Gambit Barbershop Quartet.  He is an actor when he can cram it into his schedule. A new UMN Extension Master Gardener, Merle enjoys gardening and reading.
